Description

Flourishing Lives invites you to an online roundtable discussion sharing best practice in community engagement and strengthening inclusion in arts and wellbeing services for people from a Black, Asian, and minority ethnic background.

The roundtable is being organised in collaboration with the Race Equality Foundation and HEAR Network as we seek to advocate together for best practice in diversity and inclusion across the arts and health sectors.

The session will bring together arts and wellbeing professionals from across the Flourishing Lives coalition and representatives from BAME groups for an open and exploratory conversation, identifying ways in which arts organisations can improve their inclusive practice to ensure that people from a BAME background are genuinely engaged and directly involved in the development of their cultural programmes.

This is a nuanced issue so the session will be an open discussion, reflecting the wide variety of experiences and perspectives from across the BAME communities.

The session will cover the following topics:

  • Promoting BAME inclusiveness in arts, health and wellbeing services

  • Identifying models of best practice in community engagement and co-production

  • Outlining strategies and considerations for strengthening inclusion

  • Connecting with BAME advocates from across the arts and health sectors

We are keen to ensure that as many different voices and perspectives as possible are represented and have the opportunity to provide input and guidance to the process so please do join us to share ideas and advocate for best practice in diversity and inclusion.

Please email david@flourishinglives.org if you have any access or communication needs and we will ensure that the event is fully accessible.

Flourishing Lives is a London-wide coalition of organisations taking a creative, relational approach to supporting richer, more independent lives for older people.

We believe that building quality relationships is the heart of our work - genuinely engaging with older people as unique individuals and forming close bonds with the dedicated staff and volunteers who work alongside them.

We connect practitioners, day centres, major arts organisations, health & fitness initiatives and community outreach programmes so that knowledge, research and resources can be shared and the very highest level of practice can be established across the sector.

We are very grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund and the Baring Foundation for funding our work.
